Happy Friday!

Well it's Friday! Woo-hoo! Aaaaannnnddddd I am just getting around to telling you about the last one.

Little Brother Ben came to visit last Friday. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate for any plans and so we simply hung out at the house most of the weekend. It was wonderful though being able to just spend time together. He left on Sunday, and while I was sad to see him go, I don't think Brett and I could afford to feed him for more than weekend (just teasing, buddy)!

Mrs.Split-Her-Pants

A funny for this Monday morning....

I went to PetCo on Friday during my lunch. When I bent over to pick up the bag of dog food...rrrriiiiiiipppp. The rear seam on my jean capris split! I skillfully backed out of the pet store and into Old Navy right next door. Fortunately, they were having a sale on capris-$15! I carried three pair into the fitting room and exited wearing one of them. I explained to the lady why I had ripped the tag off of the capris and was planning on wearing them out of the store when she told me that "they don't like to do that". She proceeded to radio to the front for someone to ESCORT me to the check out. Really? I am going to steal your $15 pair of capris! The manager said it was OK for me to come to the front myself where I presented the tag for my purchase.

Brett found the name "Mrs. Split-Her-Pants" very funny...

Celebrate Earth!

Happy Earth Day!

Today I am wearing my "My White T Is Green" shirt...so cute and made of organic cotton. I wish I could take a pic but I am in the midst of standardized testing with the kiddos right now. HAHAHAHA!

So in honor of Earth Day, what are you doing to celebrate/ save our Earth?

Brett and I have become very good at recycling and trying to reduce our waste. We try to turn off lights, keep the heat/ air set low, use reusable grocery bags, and unplug unused appliances but we have been thinking about doing more. Two "goals" or rather just things I would like to try this summer are composting and a rain barrel. We looked at rain barrels at the hardware store last weekend. WOW! $130! Brett thinks he could make one, so we will see. For those of you who are unfamiliar, they are big barrels that catch water from your down spouts. Your hose hooks to the barrel and you use that water to for your grass, garden, etc. rather than using "new" water. As for the composte, I really want to try this, but the "girly" part of me is worried about the smell. Just being honest.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Earth Day and does somethign a little extra today. Here's a present for you all...a free reusable grocery bag. Just click here and print the coupon, then head to Walgreen's. Stay Green!

Movie Marathon

Although Saturday was beautiful and we were able to spend most of the day outside, the rest of the weekend was quite rainy. It started Saturday night and hasn't stopped. So, Brett and I decided to catch up on some titles from blockbuster that we haven't seen. We rented movies and vegged Saturday night, Sunday night, and Monday (we played hooky from work).

My reviews:

1. Marley and Me: I read the book and it is such a great story. The movie is entertaining and I bawled at the end (of course) but I find Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson very unbelievable ads John and Jen Grogan.
2. Vicky Christina Barcelona: Wonderful movie! I love movies that are set in such scenic places that you get just as wrapped up in the locales you do the movie.3. Role Models: A decent and entertaining comedy. Not a 5 star hit, but entertaining and good for a laugh. 4. The Yards: Suspenseful enough for a Mark Wahlberg movie.
5. Changeling: still have ill feelings toward Angeline, but the movie is great. Shocking that it is a true story!
6.The Lodger: Based on a 1927 Hitchcock movie, certainly a B movie that leaves you with questions, but not bad.

7.The Lazarus Project:Weird, but OK. Not a lot to say about it because the plot has been overdone.
8. And last but not least, we recorded the Natalee Holloway movie off of Lifetime. Actually not a bad flick!

Easter baskets for the whole fam!

Just wanted to share the lovely Easter Sunday that Brett and I had. We woke up early and went to 8:30 mass. It never ceases to amaze me the number of people that find their way to church on Easter Sunday. Anywho, we came home and while the Easter Bunny had left y basket in plain sight before church, he apparently decided to play a trick on Brett. He had to hunt around the house to find his goodies, but I think it was well worth it.

My basket full of coffee yummies...
The puppies basket full of smelly treats and yummy bones...
And Brett's basket stuffed to the brim with all his favorite candies, goodies, and bourbon AND one of his favorite movies, Die Hard.
The greatest present that Brett got though is Tiger Woods golf for Wii!

After playing a little Wii and taking the dogs to the dog park, we went to Brett's Dad's house where we had a lovely day with his family.

"Hoppy" Easter Cookies

Excuse me if I sound a bit self indulgent, but I make really good sugar cookies. I mean (I may have said this at Christmas) I think they probably are the best ever! HAHAHA!!! Yesterday, I was a little daring and rather than the boring circles that I usually do, I made flowers and eggs - TOO CUTE!!! Check these out...

I hope everyone has a happy and blessed Easter!

Spring Break Recap

I was definitely looking forward to a nice spring break to just relax and take my mind off of school. It was not off to the best start, when Saturday morning, I woke up and didn't feel good only to progressively get worse throughout the day. I didn't mind though because I was so excited to see Julie and Kaliegh.

When I woke up Sunday morning, we had a dusting of snow, so I left a little early "just in case". Well, the close I got to the airport, the worse it got. My flight was delayed and hour, then another hour and then another 30 minutes. Fortunately, I treated myself to a garnde carmel machiatto (I follow the Sunday rule) and ran into some friends who I got to hang with while we all waited for flights.

I finally arrived in Philly and was ecstatic to see the girls. We went straight to the mall (where else?) and headed directly to Build A Bear where Kaliegh picked out Pinky the Unicorn. I think everything you do with a 6 year old is great fun, although I am sure Julie would disagree with me. We ordered in that night and spent the entire next day shopping on Walnut Street. We had a fab lunch at Jones and then had to pick Kal up from school. She was quite perturbed that we hadn't bought her anything. She is a total diva and IN LOVE with clothes...Julie wonders where she gets it? Hmmm, have you looked in the mirror gorgeous girl? Anyway, we did a bit more shopping and then went home to cook dinner. I was in charge of the veggies, Julie cooked the chicken and together Kal and I made brownies and of course ate some batter. After Kaliegh went to bed that night, Julie and I dyed my hair...out of a box...and tried a darker color....ummmm...it was a disaster. I have one picture of my hair the orange color that it was and I will NOT post it. It was bad. Truly, bad!

Kal "making" Pinky the Unicorn

Tuesday we picked Kaliegh up early to spend the day with us (so cute that she was scared that she had to go to the doctor and Julie didn't help matters by continuing to tease her about it). We had lunched and shopped some more. Tuesday night we ordered pizza and bowled on Wii for a while. Julie and I built a bookshelf (and yes it is still standing) and almost got it right. We did screw up one major part and had to find some nails to fix it. Anywho, I was so sad to leave on Wednesday morning. Julie is the greatest BFF ever and I miss her dearly every day. Kaliegh is so cute and growing into a fun and sassy little girl. I wish I could be more a part of her life, but for now, I just have fun visits to look forward to.

So I got home on Wednesday and felt awful. I finally came down form the adrenaline of being away and was officially sick. I went to the doctor first thing Thursday morning and she said my throat looked disgusting. A nice prescription for some strong antibiotics and i was home on the couch. By Saturday I told Brett we had to get out, so we mad reservations at a new restaurant right by out house, Morgan's Charhouse. What a fab night! The food was mouth watering and the wine was good too. We were there for 2 1/2 hours ( Brett makes fun of my love of long drawn out dinners) and then came home and played Wii bowling and tennis. I am embarrassed to admit that I was absolutely sore the next day. We relaxed on Sunday and woke up Monday morning to a blanket of snow ( see last pot) and spring break was over. I was not dreading coming back to work like I usually do so that was good. I think it was because I was able to relax so much over break and spent time with a few of the wonderful people in my life.

And in case you were wondering, I went to the salon on Staurday morning and three and a half hours later left with normal colored hair. actually it is a lot darker than usual...

Ummm...did someone forget that it is April?

A quick snapshot as we were getting in the car this morning to go back to work after Spring break.. Um, it is April, right?

Here I am!!!

Well Spring break is almost over, and I am so sad about it. I am back from Phili (will recap later) but Brett and I are both sick. Sore throats, running noses, congested chests, and one occurrence of vomiting. Not exactly the way I planned to spend my week. Oh, well!

Pictures from Phili to follow soon. I don't have anything else to tell about because I haven't done anything else but lay around!

I'm going to have a pity party for myself now...
